Classic Jonny Quest
Japanese Pencil Cases

Here are two Jonny Quest leather pencil cases produced in Japan by Royal. There are no dates, but I corresponded with the original owner of the light blue case and I believe he told me he used the case as a young student in Japan in the 1960s. So I think they're both from the 1960s.

The dark blue case is 5 x 8-1/4 inches (12.7 x 21 cm). The light blue case is 3-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches (8.9 x 21.5 cm).

Inside, the two cases have places to hold pencils and ... I can't tell what else. The dark blue case has a price sticker for 280 yen on the left. On the right-hand side, each has a clear plastic holder for a tiny schedule card. The top row has abbreviations for the days of the week, Monday through Saturday, and the numbers along the side are probably class periods.

Here's a closer look at the JQ logo. Unfortunately, the color registration is a little off.
