Classic Jonny Quest: Behind the Scenes
© 2008, Lyle P. Blosser. All rights reserved.
This is a look at what we could discover regarding the supremely talented group
of people that labored hard and long to produce the groundbreaking show known as
Jonny Quest. Many of these people had worked
in the animation industry for years; others "cut their teeth" making this show.
One thing we know for sure: without their efforts,
Jonny Quest would not have been the same. We here at ClassicJQ.com think
it's high time these people get at least some of the recognition and credit they
deserve.
NOTE: We will be building up the information on this page as we are able to discover
more about each person listed here, and about the roles they played.
The Special Case of Doug Wildey
Doug's involvement in the show from the beginning is well-known, the stuff of legend.
He's widely acknowledged as the creator of the key concepts and look of the show,
taking it from its initial conceptual birth as a
Jack
Armstrong: All American Boy franchise (ultimately abandoned not for technical
reasons, but for legal ones) to the realized
Jonny
Quest. His role in the show's crew as recorded in the episode credits
ranges from receiving no credit at all for one episode (for reasons unknown) to
credit as
Supervising Art Director for several episodes (sometimes with a
plain text credit, other times with Doug's stylized signature) to simply the phrase
Based on an idea created by followed by Doug's unique stylized signature.
He also provided several story ideas. For details on Doug's contributions to
Jonny Quest and more, follow
this link.
Here are the episode credit details for Doug:

The names recorded in the following table are grouped by credit type (writers, animators,
layout, etc.) in the order generally found within the episode credits. Within each
grouping, names are presented alphabetically. Episode links lead to corresponding
