ABC Press Release 1964

"Animated high adventure - a fresh concept in television entertainment - makes its bow when ABC-TV's 'Jonny Quest' debuts as a weekly series Friday, Sept. 18." This one-page press release was sent by ABC to media in advance of the show's premiere in September 1964.

This Jonny Quest Adventure Club press release from 1964 was probably included in the press kit shown below. It includes the rules for entering a contest to become the Boy or Girl Leader of the club and win a private tour of the United States.

1960s Character Portraits

We're not sure exactly when two of these press release head shots were created, but we're sure it was during the show's initial run on ABC.


Ad for CBS "Saturday's Super Heroes" Schedule, 1967

There was a two-page ad in a 1967 comic book for Saturday morning superheroes appearing in Saturday morning cartoons on CBS. The ad features Superman, Moby Dick, the Herculoids, Shazzan, Jonny Quest, the Mighty Mightor.

CBS Color Press Photos, 1969

These color press photos of the Quest team each measuring 7 inches by 9 inches, which is/was a standard size for press photos. There is a typed caption glued to the back of each of the photos promoting the series on CBS Saturday afternoons.


 

1977 Columbia Pictures Syndication Press Photo

This image had been used in 1967 in Austriala, but got a second life 10 years later as a promotional photo from distributer Columbia Pictures.


1985 "Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera" Photo

In 1985, Hanna-Barbera syndicated a number of new animated shows and reruns of classic Jonny Quest episodes in "The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera." This photo shows characters from "Galtar and the Golden Lance" (Galtar and his horse, Thork) at top, the Paw-Paws at left, Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound from "Yogi's Treasure Hunt" at right, and Jonny Quest and Hadji at center.


1986 Syndication Press Photos

At least five press release photos were issued to promote the Jonny Quest series in syndication in 1986.

This is a cardboard briefcase measuring 14 inches by 11 and one half inches by 2 and one half inches thick. It was a promotional item given out for the Cartoon Network 1996 release of the Classic Jonny Quest videos and contained some neat items inside.
